Our Founder

Jean is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 15 years of counseling experience. She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a Marriage and Family Therapy specialization at Antioch University Los Angeles. Jean is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and is currently pursuing her PhD in Clinical Sexology.

Jean's professional background includes a decade of service at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. She is trained in the Gottman Method Therapy for couple therapy, which is known for its research-based approach to strengthening relationships

How do I know when it is time to get support?

              It may be time to seek therapy if you’re experiencing emotional, mental, or behavioral challenges that interfere with your daily life, relationships, or overall well-being. Here are common signs indicating that therapy could be beneficial:

Emotional Signs

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or overwhelm.

What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?

        A Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), also referred to as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), is a mental health professional trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and relational issues within the context of family systems. Their work focuses on understanding how relationships impact individuals and how family dynamics can be improved to promote overall well-being.

How long does therapy last?

             The duration of therapy is very individual.  On average, research indicates that 12-20 sessions are required for 50% of patients to show significant improvement. However, some individuals may benefit from longer-term therapy, especially those with co-occurring conditions or certain personality difficulties, who might need 12-18 months of treatment.

         Session length typically ranges from 45-55 minutes for individual therapy, with couples or family therapy sessions often lasting 90 minutes.

       It’s important to note that therapy duration is often revisited throughout treatment, and the end of therapy is typically determined when the patient has accomplished mutually agreed-upon goals with the therapist.
